When you edit a case from the Search Cases screen in SAS Enterprise Case Management, a message is displayed to indicate that you have an exclusive lock on the case. When you return to the Search Cases screen, you should see a message indicating that you have unlocked the case. However, you might not see the unlock message until you edit another case on the Search Cases screen. When you edit another case, you might see both the unlock message for the previous case and the lock message for the current case.
